In this episode, Zack and Ralph Interview John about a condition called the POE problem. John has studied oils and refrigerant additives for many years and he shares some of his research and testing on how these additives affect system operation. John shares some history on the evolution of POE oil additives starting with the first batch of system failures with fractional HP refrigeration systems in the late 90’s. Special attention is given to the recent crop of TXV failures due to the overuse and/or substitution of corrosion inhibitors used in POE oil. John will explain how to cure this problem and why there really is no magic in the recommended additive injection procedure. Please enjoy the interview and for more information read John’s article in our Knowledge Center titled “Do You Believe in Magic”.
